My work as a textile artist has always been concerned with the manipulation of fabric. The use of paper and nylon monofilament is also evident.
Pattern and symmetry, occasionally asymmetry is important. I use geometric folding techniques to create order, precision and repetition.
I can fold in many ways, vertically, horizontally and diagonally to obtain the most complex arrangements, but through repetition order is maintained. Joins are important and create their own pattern, cut ends of monofilament become pinpoints of hard, bright colour, a harsh contrast to the natural cotton.
I take a single unit and multiply it, constructing a whole from separate parts that retain their own identity.
